The (don't tell them I'm so) Mighty Wurlitzer

Post by robcat2075 »

Is this weird?

In the 1930s the Treasury was putting out lists of everyone who made more than $50,000 a year.

HIghest wage-earner of 1937? Louis B. Mayer of MGM!

Note the related article about the Wurlitzer heir suing to stop someone from publishing this list. The salary figure caused "unrest among the employees of his company."

I think if you don't want anyone to know that you make more than $50,000 a year, publicly suing for $50,000 the company putting out a list of people who make more than $50,000 a year is not going to help.

And... horse, barn door... all of that, too.
