I suspect that it's exactly what it says - water with lactic acid bacteria. Some sort of probiotic drink.

But maybe it does sound better in Japanese.

We found a brand of soft drinks in Europe called "Pschitt". I could barely spit out my order (and the seller probably knew about those "Crazy Americans" anyway). It turned out to be a nice orange-flavored carbonated drink, but the name in English is sure to raise a smirk or three.

I imagine that the flavor would be described as tasteless.

It's probably Calpis. I should have put the menu back on Japanese to check but didn't think of it.
