Ritardando in audacity?

Post by johntarr »

Hello,

I’m wondering if it’s possible to have ritardondos and tempo changes in an Audacity click track.

I’ve searched the manual but find nothing that helps.

Many thanks in advance for any tips,

John

You'd have to assemble it 'by hand', with measures of differing BPM joined in order.

Easier to make an empty score with the necessary metronome marks and tempo changes in Sibelius/Finale/MuseScore etc and print the metronome track as an audio file for import to Audacity.

If audacity handles midi, you can have the midi control the tempo. If audacity has automation clips, you can use those as well to control the tempo.

I believe cakewalk does these things, is free, and is much more powerful than Audacity.

In Audacity you can make tempo and/or pitch change over the duration of a selection with Effect>Sliding Stretch

Set the Tempo percentages to change and leave the Pitch percentages at 0% to create an accel. or rit. with no pitch alteration.
