Shires Q36 bass trombone leadpipes?

Post by Bleek »

Hey all.

Has anyone played around with 3rd party leadpipes or Shires custom leadpipes in their Q36 bass trombones? Brad Close, MK Drawing etc.

No particular problem to be solved at this moment, just curious as to other peoples experiences.

For context I have the yellow brass, rotor version and use it for commercial doubling in musicals etc.

The shires custom lead pipes work just fine in the q36. I usually use the Shires custom b2 pipe and find that the q b2 pipe plays essentially the same. The shires custom gives you more options, for example I have a custom b2.5L and it can be used in the Q, but I still prefer the regular b2 pipe.
