Stop Arm Screws

Post by DoubtFire61 »

OK...I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem.

How to you keep Stop Arm Screw's from loosening on Edwards Axial Valves?

Stop welding seems a little too permanent!

Other thoughts:

Inside tooth lock washer?

Nylon washer?

Rubber/neoprene washer?

Too much work.

Put a drop of clear nail polish on the outside of the screw and stop arm. I assume you mean the screw that holds the stop arm to the spindle?

Quite frankly, mine never came loose in the 8+ years I was playing it. And my Ed Thayer valves actually currently have an Edwards screw holding one of them on... because I had it handy when putting it back together one day and never swapped it back.

Cheers,
Andy

Thanks for the idea.

I tried it, it lasted about a day.

Oddly, it is only the F spindle doing this.

New screws from Edwards arrive today.

You can also try the Lock Tite stuff Get the lightest version from Amazon. It works well!

I would try a small piece of plumber’s tape or a small piece of a toothpick. I have even used a small sliver of paper to shim a slightly loose screw. It doesn’t take much to make those threads grip firmly.
