Adding Oversleeves to a Lightweight Slide

Post by tombone21 »

I have a Shires T47LW slide that I really enjoy. The person I bought it from kindly included one of those turnbuckle braces from M/K Drawing that I also like to use with it. The problem is that I'm always having to adjust the brace, making sure it's evenly tense on both sides and parallel with the slide braces. I've thought about having the brace just hard-soldered to the slide, but was wondering if there was a way to add oversleeves to and existing slide. I imagine it would entail a full rebuild of at least the outer slide, but what do techs here think? Is it even worth it to try to do something like that? I thought it might be easier than trying to swap slides with someone else, but I'm not sure. Thanks!
