Converting the receiver from small shank to large

Post by Marzan »

I play a king 607. It has a small shank receiver. Is it possible to change this to a large shank receiver by either opening up the current receiver, or changing slides with another horn?

Nope. What mouthpiece do you want to use?

Easy answer would be something with the inside diameter if a Wick 2 or 3AL, but shallow. I'll probably have to go the Warburton or Elliott route to get what I want.
(Either that, or borrow my friend's 4B)
Thanks for the reply.

There are a few options with larger rims. As you said, one of the easiest is Doug Elliot's.

Have you thought of borrowing a large bore tbone from a good friend? Bet you can have a 4B in your hands within 24 hours. If that doesn't float your boat and you are looking for a long term solution, I know a music store in Parma, Ohio that might tackle that. Owner isn't back until Thursday, though.
I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are still missing! :D
