I happen to have a George Roberts ce mouthpiece I bought off a baritone player in a community band I used to play in. Does anyone know what a mouthpiece like this is worth?

I think George Roberts let every mouthpiece maker of the time copy his mouthpiece. I don't know which he really played.

I have a Marcinkiewicz GR and I like it as a small bass mouthpiece.

I wouldn't expect to get a big premium for it unless you can prove he actually played it.

Like Bruce said George Roberts put his name to many different mouthpieces over the years. Marketing I guess, similar to the different branded Alessi series available.

The story I heard was that this particular venture wasn't very successful and George himself didn't see any profits and many of the mouthpieces were given away. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, these stories often get embellished in the retelling!

There were 3 mouthpieces at least in the series, NY, MV, and CE, all around a 1.5G size. A friend of mine had all three and I took a liking to the MV so put a shout out on the old TTF for one. A forum number sold me one they weren't using for about 40-50 bucks which I was happy with.

If you do want to part with it I'd be happy to pay the same plus shipping costs.

However if you do play Bass Trombone give it a go, you may just like it!

Regards,

Hamo

What's the best way to ship a mouthpiece? I don't have a box for the George Roberts. Also, I'm new to the trombone chat and any sort of buying or selling of mouthpieces. What's the normal way of doing it?

PM to discuss price/shipping.

PayPal for payment.

Wrap up in bubble wrap, then small box or jiffy bag to post.

I tried sending a pm. It's in my outbox but it isn't in the sent messages part.

Do you have a picture of it? I think I may have the same piece.

Apparently they were made in a series by a machinist here in LA.

It will show up in your Sent box after the recipients opens it. Not to worry.

They were made in LA. There was NY, MV, CE, SE and SO. Think about it a bit and you can work out what they refer to.... except SO. SO is the most valued.
George told me that he never got a cent from the guy that made them.
