Too small for me. I play a 4B (L or S). I like the rim, though some don't. Seems like you either love the rim or hate it. There's no middle ground.

THIS! Old Wicks are great MPs, the new ones are weird. If you get the chance to get an old one, go for it. Only have a great old 6BS which I basically played forever, have a new 6BL which is crap but I'm quite sure an older one would be great

What time frame are we using for old vs new?

I have a really old 4AL which is a superb MP. I’d guess it’s from the 70s.

At least 10 years old. Pre-Heritage.

When I play on it, it gives a good sound, not too dark, not too bright (subjective I know).

Easy high and low. Very flexible.

The low register is a good solid sound for that size mouthpiece.

I've only played the classic version and not the heritage or heavy versions.

My classic Wick pieces are all about 15 years old so I'm not sure they are old or new types referred to above.

New designs are in the last 10 - 15 years as far as I know, maybe up to 20. The one I played for a long time must have been from the 70s and is a great one.

Denis redesigned all his pieces in the mid 90’s

I tried a couple Wicks a long time ago. From what I remember they seemed to have wide, flat rims, is that correct?

Exactly right. Some people love them (like me) others hate them. Seems there is no middle ground.
