king serial numbers

how do the king serial numbers work?? the lists i found only go up to 1986. my serial number has a 5 and a space in front of it.

They were absorbed by Conn-Selmer. I checked their website and couldn't figure out serial numbers past 1986. Maybe contact them directly? https://www.conn-selmer.com/en-us/about
