Conn 100H braces

Post by Conn100HGuy »

Does anyone know the story behind the curved brace on the Conn 100H hand slide? My horn has one (see avatar) but it's the only one I've seen.

It looks comfortable to hold. It seems like a lot of alto trombones have that sort of setup too.

Isn't the curved grip the way Minick made the early ones?

Speaking of 100Hs, for a long time, there was a manufacturing issue and the inner slides wouldn’t align properly. Did they ever get that sorted out?

To the above responses:

It is comfortable - now. It took a bit of time to get used to it.

Yes, the curved brace was based on a Minick design.

Regarding alignment, I've had better. It's not horrible and I've considered sending it to the Slide Dr. to see if he can make it as fast as the work he did for me on a King 3B.

I had two like that, a real Minick and a Conn and for me they were very uncomfortable to hold so I had them taken off and made in to coat hooks.
