King 606 value

Post by Bassmike »

I've been helping a beginning students family search for an instrument to purchase. I have found an older King 606 in OK shape. Looks to be sold from a rental fleet, patch on the bell stem near the lower brace and the slide needs a little work. Lacquer is 60% or so.
Question is what would a ballpark asking price for the described horn be without repair pricing?

Thanks

I would pay $100 tops, probably less.
I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are still missing! :D

606's in better condition are readily available, so one that's beat up shouldn't cost much. On eBay, they range from $75 to over a thousand for a new one. Used ones average around $300. I found 25 of them with a single eBay search. There's one for $150 that looks to be in good condition from a seller I've bought things from. I'd still take it to the tech just to get checked out.
