Can anyone help me identify this horn?

Post by BigBlueTrombone »

This is my Conn Alto Valve Trombone from 1886. I cannot find any records of a model matching this even existing. The serial number suggests it was built in 1886, but that is about 5 years earlier than the first recorded alto valve trombone which is a very different design. Any help and knowledge would be much appreciated.

Here is a google drive link to pictures:

Thank you again!

It's a Conn Worcester (made at the Isaac Fiske plant after Conn bought them out.

The modern model naming system didn't come into operation until 1919, which is some 30 years after this was made.

I don't know if they actually had model names back then.

I have a Conn Worcester tuba made in 1892. No model information available for that either. But it plays like a dream.

Are you looking to sell this instrument? If not I'll move it to Instruments. This board is for buying and selling.

I am not looking to sell it, just for information. Sorry about the mix-up, this is literally my first day on the forum. Thank you very much for your help!
