Noah Glanstone leadpipe

Post by dapezar »

I've bought a leadpipe made by Noah Glanstone in the second-hand market.

Specifications are the followings:

Pure cooper.
No screw in the head.
It seems to be a copy of a 42 MT Vernon leadpipe according to the description written on the tube.

Could you tell anything else about this leadpipe?

I'm attaching some pictures of it.

Thanks.

Looks great, if you have any questions email Noah Gladstone will respond to emails pretty fast. Brassark.com The S might be short, i have a 42O in copper and it’s great.

As it's marked, this was actually made by Noah Gladstone's associate, Brad Close. Brad does excellent work!

It's also written "B Close". Is it the 42 Mt V original leadpipe which this leadpipe is based on??

Brad Close and Noah share a business space in La Crescenta. Brad is a first-class instrument tech. He made the leadpipe.

As a couple of people have already mentioned, the “S” means seamed. You should be able to see a line that goes the entire length of the leadpipe where it was brazed together. In my opinion, the seamed option is an upgrade. My seamed leadpipes tend to have more core and tend to give me better control of articulations.

It's unthreaded to fit unthreaded instruments, like Conn 100H and apparently Bach 42....

It's based off of one of my Bach 42 Mt Vernon trombones in my collection that plays particularly exceptional and is well balanced. Everyone is correct, S is for seamed, it is a copper MV42 seamed pipe

Enjoy it!

I've actually been thinking about getting one of these myself for my Kanstul 1570. Trying to decide between rose brass and copper. Copper seems to be pretty popular for this pipe.

Dave, copper is by far the most popular variation. I don't recall if we've made any rose brass versions, if so maybe just a handful
