Was Holton TR-183 offered in screw bell?

Post by Crazy4Tbone86 »

Hey Everyone! A couple of days ago, I picked up a 1973 Holton TR-183 bell section for a steal. It is the single valve bass with the 9 inch rose brass bell. This one has a few dings and I will need to fabricate some of F-attachment parts. I am still brainstorming, but I think I will modify it so it can take all of my Bach bass slides.

My question.....was there ever a Holton TR-283 (183 with a screw bell)???? If yes, that is something I might consider. Fortunately, Mike Olsen probably has all of the specs for every screw bell Holton ever created. For now, I just want to know if there ever was a TR-283. If yes, how did it play?
