Re: Difference between Bach Soloist and TB600
Watching. The way Bach has numbered their student horns in recent years is crazy confusing.
I had a student with an Aristrocrat/tb600 maybe 8 years ago, and it was terrible. Heavy, scratchy slide; the partials were out-of-tune. Down there with the worst of the China-made horns.
The current tb301's are decent, and seem to be identical to the King 606's which have been consistently good over the years.
The only student Bach which may be consistent is the tb200. (re-badged Bundy)

Re: Difference between Bach Soloist and TB600
I have a couple Soloists, all straight horns. They also had a Bb/F version with that name but nothing in common with the straight horn.
Difference between 600 and Soloist: bore Soloist 0.500 vs 0.509; slide on Soloist outer is rose brass with nickle crook vs 600 yellow brass outers.
The Soloist is identical to a Conn 23H except for name on bell.
Plays well, I'd put it equal to Yammy 354.

So we can say that Soloist is better than tb600 by sound or no?walldaja wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 10:45 am I have a couple Soloists, all straight horns. They also had a Bb/F version with that name but nothing in common with the straight horn.

And how can they be compared in price?

If you choose from these two instruments, which will be the best for the student?Mamaposaune wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 8:49 am Watching. The way Bach has numbered their student horns in recent years is crazy confusing.

I've never played the 600 so I can't compare it.

I can't say either, Walldaja gave the Soloist a good review, no one seems to know about the current tb600.
Bach student models names/#'s change too frequently for me to keep track of.
I used to be more on top of this when I had more private students (pre-pandemic) and could evaluate the rentals that the kids showed up with.
