Serial number Conn 88H

Post by Bassbone85 »

Hi guys!

Just bought a trombone with serial number GB 87xxxx.

Could anyone help me figure out the year this was made?

The owner says he bought in 1971. I'm thinking it might be newer than that, or perhaps it came with a newer slide.

Thanks alot!

GA series started in 1973-79 (Abliene horns) (Note: M and N series, are assume to be a mixture of bells, made in Elkhart, made in USA. GB (I've never seen one) could be the left over bells, sold in 80-81, prior to Symphony series logo. https://www.conn-selmer.com/en-us/resou ... al-numbers

According to horn-u-copia, that serial no would be from February 1978. There can be GAs to GLs for the 70s, the third character defines the year within the decade.

G means 70s
B means Feb
8 means the year in the decade
7 means a slide trombone
