Is the blessing 1488 a decent horn. I would like to get my h.s. student one. He is average on a musical level.

I would recommend a Yamaha YSL-446 or 448 over the Blessing. The Blessing name has been resold several times and I would avoid them.

I second getting a Yamaha. Older Blessings might be alright, but a Yamaha will go a whole lot further for your student in terms of longevity and value. Even if it's a used Yamaha, I feel like getting one will get better results than a blessing.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
