Yamaha Xeno bells

Post by MTbassbone »

Does anyone know if Yamaha uses soldered or unsoldered bells on their Xeno models? Specifically the YSL-882OR and YBL-830? What about the non-xeno YBL-620G?

My 882OR had a soldered bell. Can't remember for sure with the 830.

I had and 882 that was soldered, and I’d have to double check but I’m 99% sure my 620g has an unsoldered bell. The 620g is a pretty lightweight, red brass bell.

I'm 99% sure of that as well. I've had a 620G for just about a week now and I do believe it is unsoldered.

I've also got an 882OR, a 640, an 891z, a 613 and a 621 and they all have soldered rims.

Yam makes 2 “620G” horns: a bass and a tenor.

I wish they would make two piece unsoldered bells and make them a little lighter....also more tuning slide and lead pipe options.

Both of mine are soldered (822G bass, 882V tenor). The tenor bell is much lighter than the current production 882s.
