Bass Trumpet

Post by paulyg »

Got my horn back from my friend.

It's a Lidl piston bass trumpet that I picked up in bad shape for about $200. My friend went through it and replaced the valve block (and valve slide crooks) with one from a Getzen Cornet.

It's amazing.

Looks amazing. How does it play? And is that a MegaTone mouthpiece in it?

I have a great SilverSonic cornet I listed on here. Surprised the valve block for a cornet would work - it seems so small. What's the bore size here?

That's a fish-eye effect from my camera. It's a Greg Black Alessi A2 M.

The original bore of the Lidl is .461, and the Getzen cornet bore is something like .462. It's a real bass trumpet, as opposed to a "trumpet shaped valve trombone."
