Ergonomics Edwards T396-A

Post by SwissTbone »

Hi

I have recently come into possession of an Edwards T396-A. The Alessi horn.

It fits my playing style rather well and is a bit easier to play than my trustee Hagmann Custom tenor. So I might actually keep it :-)

The only thing that bothers me is the location of the valve lever. To me, it feels like I have to move my thumb way to the right in order to actuate the valve, this can hurt after some time. Anybody else got that problem? Seems like an easy fix, to change the location of the valve lever, right?

When I had that horn, I had to put a bullet brace on it to get my thumb further away from the trigger because I have larger hands and that fixed the issue for me personally.

I have large hands. So my hand wants to hold the horn farther from the MP.
I removed the knob on the valve lever and had a plate with a roll installed.

I would maybe shoot off an email to Edwards. Maybe they have options. You can also have the lever bent to maybe put it in a better position.

Easy fix. Just take it to a good tech and have them make a new lever to fit to your hand.

I've had to have that done to basically every horn I own due to me having smaller hands.
