Hi all,

https://patents.google.com/patent/US4996902A/en

Looks like a blend between a piston and a K valve. Anyone here played one?

Best regards,

Jon

I don't think I've ever seen one "in the wild". Just because it's patented doesn't mean somebody is using it.

Never played one, but there were at least a few made.

I've played a couple of them, very fast & short valve action. It's basically a rotary valve, but inclined and with one of the ports on the bottom. As for the blowing/resistance, feels similar to standard rotary valve (maybe a bit more open). Both horns were 547" bore, 8,5" yellow brass bell. Tuning-In-Slide. Very well built and a cool design.

I own one without valve, dual bore slide (525"/547") and 8.5" yellow brass bell.

Amazing horns!

My colleague Daniel Anarte plays an Hulot since the late 90s, you can see and hear the horn in action on his YouTube channel:
