Ergobone or other aid and slide technique

Post by timothy42b »

Random thoughts on a weekend, just returned from Seattle for work and trying to get my sleep schedule back to East Coast time zone.

I've been having some left arm issues supporting the trombone, not unusual at my age!. I had to move to pBone.

But I've just experimented with a Ken designed cantilever style support, similar to an ergobone but the weight is balanced with a moment arm.

With all weight of the trombone removed, your support hand can hold as lightly as you want. When I do that, any side pressure from the slide hand is magnified and results in the trombone swaying or bouncing. So it's an instant check on how straight line my slide technique is, and it turns out not quite as straight line as i thought it was.
