I didn't know John, but he was very generous with his knowledge on the old forum.

Sad news indeed. He passed on the 5th on January. John was a wealth of knowledge on all things Williams. I spoke with him in December a few weeks before Christmas. It was always a pleasure talking shop with him and picking his brain with Williams related questions. Just a great guy and friend that I will dearly miss.

So sad about John. I have known him for awhile and I considered him a good friend. He had a voluminous knowledge of Williams trombones and he got me one of the first horns that John Duda made.

I miss John. He knew a lot about a lot of different things and I could talk with him for hours.

I visited him in November in Apple Valley. He was looking bad and I had a feeling that his heart was going to give out. Before I left, he asked me to take a prototype Williams 4 with me to evaluate. This is a horn that Matt Simianer has built for BAC Instruments. I have the horn now, including an additional lightweight brass slide. The horn plays great. I was asked by John to record some vids and then send the horn to the next person in the queue.

Here is a thing I recorded at the beginning of the pandemic... me practicing "Body and Soul" with large intervallic jumps. I was hoping to do something with the prototype Williams 4 and post it but time is not my friend right now. RIP John.

I just received some bad news. We lost our good friend and former member, John Noxon last January. I just got a phone call that his wife, Geri passed away. They were high school sweethearts, were together for over 50 years and were inseparable. They're together again now.

Man, that is so sad to hear. I know they’re enjoying being together again.

Unfortunately I have to make another RIP thread as we lost another member of the “Williams mafia.” :frown:
