Rip Posten

Post by KWL »

Rip Posten, bass trombonist and founding member of the Annapolis Brass Quintet passed away yesterday, June 10, 2020. Details are on the ABQ sponsored web site here: https://www.brassquintetforum.com/. I have fond memories of socializing with Rip, Ellen and the members of the ABQ many decades ago. He will be missed.

The Annapolis Brass Quintet came to my High School and performed a concert there (mid-70's). Unfortunately, it was for the whole school, so not a very receptive audience. They were terrific, however, and I definitely enjoyed it. I have an LP or two of theirs in my collection because of hearing them that day.

I remember that after a concert for loud, uninterested kids, they changed their serious encore to "Rubber Ducky" from Sesame Street. Seemed quite appropriate to those of us who were interested, and were trying to listen to the concert.
