Isn't the B88 was a decent copy of an 88H? It is my understanding that an 88H is good enough for any level of playing. There are lots of reasons to go with a 42 over an 88. In general, I found the 4H to be more brash and the 12H to be more mellow. Both fun to play in the high range. At a high volume the 4H sizzles, the 12H almost sizzles. At low volumes the the 4H is kinda 'meh' while the 12H is warm and beautiful.

I've given up the idea of a replaceable leadpipe, but, now you've played it, is it worth having the slide rebuilt?
