I'm looking at the first published version for Solo trb and band, the 1950 Soviet version on IMSLP.

The highest note is G three lines above the staff.

I think a high Bb is a Western editor's contrivance. Perhaps to try to assert some copyright on his edition.

Inserting a bar of 5/4 into a chart is "standard" - there's really no other way around that.
I don't understand the problem here. Musescore does that. I even made him a video that showed how easy it was.

I once considered building a "sound proof" room in my house so I could practice at the late hours of the night when my lips finally felt ready to play. If I even take a nap in the middle of the day my lips feel hopeless right after.

I have no solutions, however, other than waking up earlier.

I would call that... non-standard. :clever:

It's easy enough to insert a measure if you want one in MuseScore.

You select a measure, press Insert, and a new blank measure appears before the selected measure .

I think what they are really trying to do is make a show of approval for one side in a debate less obvious.

If that's the goal they should just have a no-audience-response rule and take a vote at the end.

Several years ago I tried trial versions of pdf reading software. They do well on music that was computer-generated and absolutely square and clean. Not so well on the sort of pdfs you get off IMSLP. Maybe they have gotten better since then Kind of a hijack ... kind of ... but I've been using MuseSc...

I use MuseScore. The list of things it doesn't do is pretty short.

One shortcoming I'm surprised they haven't addressed is the absence of a hipster "manuscript" notation font for jazz purposes.
