I was going to say - Rath single-valve bass? I guess you said no boutique horns, but I’m not sure I would call Rath a boutique horn (maybe it is, who knows).

I’m often amazed that sometimes the best professional players went to super no-name schools. The cream always rises to the top. Focus on price and teacher.

Still on the hunt for a bass Sackbut piece. I have a Van der Heide bass mouthpiece that I'm not using and was considering selling.I could let it go for 120 USD (they cost about 175 new). His mouthpieces have been the reference/standard for a long time and most of the other mouthpieces on the market...

I’m the proud owner of a new to me Bass Sackbut. Does anyone have any mouthpieces for sale before I buy a new one? It doesn’t come with one so I’ll have my first Sackbut but be unable to play it unless I can find a mouthpiece quick!

I’ve seen some videos of that one and, while I’m generally a huge Miraphone fan, I don’t think the BBb contra is the one for me.

I did speak with Noah at Brass Ark ast week about the two contras he has available. I’m considering one of those, but we’ll see.

I have a Rath R9 and love it. Haven’t played a Shires or Edwards, though I’m sure they’re great too. Just need to try some horns. I will say I had a Yamaha 613 before the R9, and while it was okay, I like the R9 a lot more.
