Re: Bass trombone dual thumb trigger setup

Couldn’t agree more. They apparently think this an improvement of some sort. Stock photo has it pictured too:

Re: Bass trombone dual thumb trigger setup

I recently did some repair work on one just like the “flappy” version posted here. I believe it was factory. While I think this was an attempt at improving the roller idea, it most certainly is not. Joe and Aidan, the tab you are used to on other Bach dependent horns is fixed to the bottom of the F ...

Pitch is certainly altered again here. Trumpet player starts the tune with a sounding G with 2&3 valves down...

In any case she sounds great. Particularly when singing.

Re: Mystery mute...

I agree, almost certainly shastock. The corks, natural wood bottom and metal band at the top are give always for me. As for the resonator, I have one that is specific about the “violin maple resonator” and one that isn’t. If memory serves, there are two versions. One with and one without/made from s...

Re: WTB: Used Professional Bass Trombone

Baltimore Brass has a couple things just above your price range:

Bach 50B3
&
Jupiter XO 1240RL-T

They are both just over 3k and look to be in exceptional condition.

WTB: Shires .525” Slide

Looking for : .525” Shires Slides - not too picky about which permutations. Ideally with both a leadpipe for small and large bore but not a deal breaker if that’s not possible. If you have something let me know! I could be into a whole horn if the right thing came along.... Looking forward to hearin...

My comment was not specifically aimed at you greenbean, more just in general.

Also, holding any manufacturer to “perfect” as a standard is not realistic, as blast already pointed out.

Re: Build quality Shires, Rath and Greenhoe

I own and play a Shires .547 (& have owned another; sold for unrelated reasons) and have never had any problems with workmanship. As for Greenhoe trombones currently being produced: Why should quality of build be diminished? Schilke produces some pretty meticulously made trumpets! Why would the new ...

Finlayson actually comments on the video:
“Alexander, the carbon fiber slide used in this video is made by Spurling. All inquiries should be directed to Patrick Spurling about purchasing a slide.”

Butler uses a carbon fiber right hand “cross tube” with his slides.

Re: Bach LT16M Counterweight

I have a Corporation LT16M and a Bach counterweight fits perfectly. To the best of my knowledge Bach only makes the one weight for their Stradivarius models. I double checked on their parts website and took a screenshot of what models the weight fits. Also, Bach uses the same tuning slide assembly f...

Packer trombones are nice instruments, they are certainly better built than many Chinese makes. A good price point for new instruments. The Rath collaboration is also a nice aspect, though not too different from what Shires did with “Eastman by Shires” *before* they were actually the same company. M...
