Re: UK BrassBand pitch is confusing me, help!!

Thankyou everyone. I'm going to build up my moral strength to relearn what-I-call-each-slide-position after Christmas.... for now i'm going to do some manual transposing so I can keep joining in at Training Brass Band (me and the 8 year olds!) So i'm going to transpose the parts I've got up a tone ...

Re: Bach LT16M Counterweight

Try the Shires 3 piece... I have it on a Bach model 8 and it fits perfectly. The stock Bach weight won't clamp on flat between the tuning slide ferrules. I've had a 16M before and the stock Bach weight didn't fit that horn either. Brasslab is a great shout for a custom fit. Chuck will make any size ...

I Say A Little Prayer - Big band arrangment

Hi all, I'm programming a big band gig soon and would like to pay tribute to Aretha Franklin. I'd like to do "I say a little prayer" either as an instrumental or vocal. Other classic Aretha numbers would be equally appropriate though. Scouring the internet hasn't come up with much unfortunately. Any...

Re: Williams Lead-pipes. Help!

I would be very wary of attempting to pull the leadpipe on a Williams! As noted above, you generally get to keep the pipe or the inner slide leg, not both. If there is something you don't like about the feel of the horn, try a different mouthpiece. (There are many to choose from, and if you go down ...

Re: Trombone Materials

Regarding Elkhart era 88H's....

What brass in the above table is used for:

1. Bell, red/gold in colour?
2. Slide, red/bronze in colour?
3. Slide, yellow in colour... I assume this is standard yellow brass?

Cheers,

Hamo

Re: George Roberts ce mouthpiece

Like Bruce said George Roberts put his name to many different mouthpieces over the years. Marketing I guess, similar to the different branded Alessi series available. The story I heard was that this particular venture wasn't very successful and George himself didn't see any profits and many of the m...

WTB: 0.481 Leadpipe for King 2B

Looking for (hopefully!) A vintage King 2B Leadpipe? Just had the upper inner swapped out so now accepts press fit pipes. The old pipe was worn and the mouthpiece didn't seat properly. Any old 2B pipes rattling around in drawers out there? Would be interested in any 0.481 press fit pipes. Already ha...

WTB: Copper/Red/Gold TS for Bach 42

Looking for a tuning slide for a stock Bach 42 that's more red than standard yellow brass.

I know Brass Ark and Hoelle are available...

Putting some feelers out...

Re: “Remington” or Morse Taper on 88H

Having the correct tapered mouthpiece makes a huge difference on these instruments. They slot so much better. I can highly recommend Doug Elliott's Conn shank with the added bonus of matching any cup and rim. Brings the old Elkhart horns to life. There are other stock pieces out there like the Conn ...

Re: Best Case out there for a tenor?

Windcraft small tenor case, hands down the best case I've ever had for any trombone. Small, lightweight, durable. Extremely comfy backpack straps that hide away. Shoulder strap. Really really useful clips for when you want to quickly move the case with the instrument out. Makes sense when you try it...

NY Bach LS Screw Rim mouthpiece info

HI all, Awhile ago I acquired an interesting mouthpiece from another forum member, it is rather unique! It's a large shank, Remington taper, screw rim piece. It's stamped; VINCENT BACH CORP., NEW YORK The top of the engraving is missing which may or may not have to do with the screw rim. It's also s...
