Re: FS/WTT Giddings D. Mirvil V

I would also take $100 for the mouthpiece.

WTB Tyrell Tuba Book

I have a student that needs this book for lessons. He is paying his own way at a private college so money can be tight at times. Just looking for one in usable condition.

FS/WTT Giddings D. Mirvil V

I'm looking to trade a like new Mirvil V for a Griego GP6 in similar condition. Used about 6 hours. It has a very even and easy sound and quick response. There is a lot to like about this mouthpiece, its just too dark for my hall and section.

Re: A few basses and tenor

The Edwards 454-CRE valve set is fantastic. Should give you just a bit more resistance and will be cheaper than a new horn.

Re: Stuck thayer valve(s)

There could be stress in the build or the bell section could have been put back together with a slight misalignment that would cause the valves to bind. If you are comfortable with taking the bell apart do so and then reassemble putting the tuning slide in before tightening the bell braces. In other...

Re: Edwards T396-A Harmonic Pillar tendencies

Think of the hole on the neckpipe side as a leadpipe adjustment. The center is for changing the core of the sound and the bell side is for bloom around the core. Make a log of which hole and what material and the effects so that you aren't chasing your tail as you try the different combinations.

Re: What we're doing

I'm doing Fountains and Pines of Rome on the same concert this weekend, Brahms 1, a World Premier Fanfare, Macmillan "Vien Vien, Emanuel" percussion concerto next week, and a Harry Potter Concert the following week. The Macmillan is one of the most difficult pieces I've played. I'd rather play "Rite...

King 606 value

I've been helping a beginning students family search for an instrument to purchase. I have found an older King 606 in OK shape. Looks to be sold from a rental fleet, patch on the bell stem near the lower brace and the slide needs a little work. Lacquer is 60% or so. Question is what would a ballpark...

When in doubt, I go with what the conductor wants. When not in doubt, I still go with what the conductor wants
Never ask the conductor what they want. Quite often they don't know.

Re: Edwards CR valves

Anybody have experience with Edwards' CR valve option on bass trombone? Does it come in a dependent setup? Cost of either setup (just the valve set)? Are they lighter (weight) than Thayers? I've played on a set for the past year. The valve set is $2395 for an inline set, they're not making a stock ...
