Wow, I meant my comment to be that Ashley made that superbone really work for him. With Maynard , I always felt that it was a gimmick. Ashley made it into a viable musical instrument.

I`ve had an H8 leadpipe in my 16MG for probably 10 years and love it. It opened the upper range up quite a bit and just made it a better slotting horn. I tried an Edwards #2 for a while in the 16MG and didn`t like. I have one in mu 36 and it really works there.

A Giardinelli 4D is their answer to the 6 1/2AL
The 4M is basically a 6 3/4C with a little shallower cup
I had talks with the mouthpiece makers at Giardelli NYC back in the late `70`s about making me a 6 1/2 copy and that`s what they told me

I`ve tried a number of 11C`s over the years and always felt the same way. Must the the rim contour because I can /and have played a 12C with no problem (well, some adjusting)

I have a Mount Vernon 36 and a 12 from the 1st year of production in Elkhart (most likely Mount Vernon Parts)
They both play great.
On All my small horns I use Mount Vernon 7C`s and there is a difference from later 7C`s I have

I`ve had 32H`s and 78H`s in the past and they have been inter-changeable.
I always prefered the 32Bell with the 32 slide but they do work together

I`ve had several silver plated horns over the years. I just sold a silver Getzen Canadian Brass model.
My all time favorite and I`m so sorry that I Had to sell it, 1928 Satin Silver Conn 78H.

I had one of the Brass Ark 11C`s for a while. It is about the rim size of a 6 1/2 or 6 3/4 definitely not an 11C.
I also found it to play very bright for me.

I use a Windy City Bass Trombone Straight mute. Works and sounds great. a little heavier than a Joral or tom Crown but sounds just fine.

From what I remember about the "Souzabone". It`s a one of a kind 4 valve trombone in "C".
Calicchio did make it for him and said that it was difficult to make so "Never again".

I had an Lt16M for a number of years with 3B crooks on the hand slide and the tuning slide and a Kanstul/Herrick H8 leadpipe. OMG !! The horn wass soooo open and responsive. The upper range was nuts. I`m not sure what you mean by a bigger slide?. With the Lt16MG , the open neck pipe or gooseneck really makes a difference. I have 2 12`s and on them I like the "tighter" gooseneck.

I have a Lt16MG from the `90s with the open gooseneck and had an earlier Lt16MG with a standard 16G bell with the standard gooseneck and there was a huge difference

The 32H is one of the un-sung heroes of the Conn Line. I have one now, I`ve had 2 in the past. (In Fact i`m looking to sell mine). The sound is really thick and lush, with lots of overtones. When pushed it will bark. I`ve never played a horn quite like it. Dark, Rich with a stellar upper range
