Re: Starting a Brass Ensemble Library

You could get a large bundle of pdf arrangements from Big Shiny Brass to get you started. While it might not fit any requirements for new original work, and the pieces are generally short-ish (up to 4 minutes), they are not trivial to play well, and there's plenty for all manner of occasions. Watch ...

Re: Mahler 3 3rd Trombone part

Thanks all, appreciate all your inputs. I don't have a dispute with the conductor, I was just a bit surprised at his choice, and he appreciated my input after he had told me what he had chosen (but I think we may well end up with no change!). As an amateur I feel very privileged to be able to play t...

Mahler 3 3rd Trombone part

What is the view on which instrument should be used for the third part in Mahler 3? My conductor has requested a bass trom; looks more like a tenor (Bflat-F) to me.

Re: Creating an Orchestra Manager / Ideas?

You would need to think about security/ access. Who can see, update, or view the various data? Many of the ideas seem fairly discrete, and may be more effort to join up than is worth.

Re: Home Improvement: Gutter cleaning

Should gutters be level? Shouldn't they fall to the down pipe?

Re: Conn 50H

I had a 50H many years ago, it was very poor, and I had to send it back 3 times before ditching it. (The slide was faulty/ very poor). So I'm a bit biased against them, but it was as much because the band management were insistent that it was good for bass trombone, (they purchased 6H's for the teno...

Re: Tuning Slide Lube Maintenance

I just use tuning slide lubricant. I think vaseline can set hard if left for a prolonged period; so I wouldn't use that, though it was something that people used when I started 50+ years ago, probably because it was easily available in local stores.

Re: Is there a good BBb contra?

Hope it goes ok; I didn't have a lot of success when I tried, but it's nothing like my normal instrument. I'll have to get myself down there one day as it's under an hour away.

Re: Is there a good BBb contra?

Maybe it's worth asking Wessex Tubas if they have anything hidden away. I can't see one on their site at present, but I'd thought they had done one. I remember playing a trombone with a double slide on their stand once, though I can't remember much more than that. https://trnewcomb.wordpress.com/201...
