Re: iReal Pro

It's a super app. I use it all the time. You can create your own chord progressions also. Sets up a good background play along music for your practice. You should learn how to play the melodies by ear anyway. Then, improvise off of the melodies. You can turn on/off any of the instruments. i turn off...

Re: Manipulating tone colour

Seems it is possible to be perfectly centered and also have a dull sound. Or a bright one. The difference seems to be in the oral cavity, which can be tuned to the note intended. When in tune the overtones can really shout. There are some pretty extreme tone examples, like the "birdphone" sound on ...

I think that the more centered your buzz is, the more bright your tone can be. Buzz Pitch == Slide Position. IOW, perfect resonance.

Re: NO jazz fest

'country and western' Both kinds of music! Country AND Western. I love some good C&W, but most of the modern stuff is crap. I like Willie, Asleep at the Wheel, Johnny Cash, Lyle Lovett, etc. I love Asleep, because they really swing! Just like the old Bob Wills bands did in the past! And, Willie is ...

That's mostly what I have. 1550 Copper bell with the slide of the 1606, and 3 mouth pipes. Well, I also have the 1606 bell and the super light weight slide that came with the 1550.

I love they way they both play.

Usually above 2000 ml. It's hard to give a clear number. And being below 2000 ml is not necessarily fatal.
So, 2000 is adequate for trombone players?

I have a spirometer that my wife obtained for Physical Therapy following surgery, and now I'm wondering how much capacity is considered normal? It ranges from 0 up to 4000 ml.

Re: Embouchure Symptoms Similar to Swelling

For unknown swelling for no apparent reason, I'd try Advil and maybe an allergy medication like Zyrtec, and drink a lot of water. Allergies have been really bad for me the past few days, my throat is swollen and feels hard to breathe all the time. Thank you Doug for replying. I don't think it is an...

Embouchure Symptoms Similar to Swelling

However, when I look in a mirror, my chops don't look like they are swollen. But, if I drink a cold drink with ice, and let the ice cool my embouchure down a bit, my embouchure plays fresh again. I googled swollen embouchure and got a lot of responses relating to medicines, allergies, etc. Has anyon...

This is my practice room which is just a small bedroom. You will notice if you pay attention a Ham radio sitting on my computer desk as well. Doesn't get too much attention right now because of HOAs, but I don't want to store it in the garage, so there she sits. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYaae...

IRealPro has a mixer button on the bottom where you can mix the instruments, so if you think there is too much piano, you can bring it down to the level you like. On mine, I will turn down the piano to silent so that I can practice my piano skills, then turn it back up for trombone. Very versatile i...

Re: Brand new horn, out of tune. Easy fix?

Kanstul 1550 that I own is tuned high. I don't know if it was a mistake or not. I purchased it from Wind and Brass or something like that, and it could have been intended for Europe. I don't know, but it is high. I have a friend that bought his Kanstul 1550, and it was high also, but since he lives ...
