Would you buy an instrument without seeing it??

As Sam Burtis often likes to quote:

Yer pays yer money, yer takes yer chances.

I've done it 5 or 6 times, and been both delighted and disappointed.

Lesser known orchestral works

Definitely the Dvorak Requiem is lesser known.

Not so much the others, but definitely the Dvorak.

Theory---Largest..or Smallest?

Yeah I know there is a Wick 4.5AL.

I just won't be getting it because there are no cup variants or a small shank version.

With Greg Blacks, there's a small shank version of the mouthpieces I'm interested in, so I can use the same rim when I switch horns.

Steve Ferguson stated on his website that Schilke changed the shank on all their models to the Bach style shank.

Theory---Largest..or Smallest?

<r>I play a Wick 5AL, and with it's 25.73 rim diameter, I find it to be just a TAD small. It fights me in the low tessitura-  <IMG src="http://tromboneforum.org/Smileys/otjf/BassClef.gif"><s>[img]</s><URL url="http://tromboneforum.org/Smileys/otjf/BassClef.gif">http://tromboneforum.org/Smileys/otjf/...

Also, I have a question.

What kind of mouthpiece does Dave Taylor play? I can't find it any where.

After a short foray into a Schilke 60, I determined that it just isnt for me.

I'm sticking with my 1.5G. I love it. It pops in all registers.

Trombone Players with really good tone quality

Conrad Herwig has a nice smooth tone. He's not classical but he's good anyway.
