Re: Conn Artist Symphony

Thank you Matt. But if the horn is decent (not bad, not excellent), do you think $840 is a fair price? It seems ok to me but I’d like to have advices.
If I pay for a slide work, and if it’s not the right horse, I think I’ll be able to sell it w/o loosing money.

Conn Artist Symphony

What do you think about this one? 88H?

I don't have a lot of informations at the moment, but it sells for €750 ($840).
I'll have the serial number during the we.

The seller says the slide is a little grippy between 6th and 7th, lacquer a bit aged.

However, my 10H bell is coprion, wich should give a nice reddish look.

WTT/WTB: A good .500 bore for my Yamaha 891Z

I have here in France a very good 891Z. One year old, first owner. 8 inches bell, .508 bore, with its case in perfect condition and 3 leadpipes: 2 genuine ones and 1 Kanstul H8. A few scratches but nothing serious, really. No dings. Perfect slide. Very good instrument, but a bit too big for my taste...

Ok: I like it A LOT! A shame Yamaha doesn’t have a 500 trombone in the actual pro line...
Or maybe the 897Z 490-494 would be very close?

Perhaps it’s time to think about a 500 carbon slide for my 891Z!

Re: Yamaha 352

Thank you for the insights.
I think the bell section is a bit stuffy. But the slide is very nice: this works amazingly well with my 891Z bell section! A bit sharp as the slide is shorter, but the tuning slide helps correcting the tuning.

I have a Yamaha 352 since this morning. A backup. I think the slide is a 354 slide, but I can be wrong. Anyway: I was amazed this slide can combine with my 891Z bell section! Ok, I got the genuine Wycliffe Gordon NY leadpipe back. And it’s obviously what the trombone needed! I think it’s the more balanced leadpipe for this horn. Really neutral, flat EQ and you can hear recordings like if the trombone and/or the trumpet are in the room, playing right in front of you! It’s amazing. Barely need EQ.
