Getzen 725 dual bore?

I’m looking for a horn for orchestral work. I have a chance to buy a Getzen 725 dual bore f attachment for $1350 with stand and case. It is described as in “near perfect” condition.

Assuming the horn checks out, any reason why I shouldn’t purchase? I’ve seen it mostly described as an intermediate student horn. I’m an amateur, but sound matters.

Bell section components the same as other larger Getzen Edwards horns. Most similar to the old Canadian Brass horns from decades ago. FWIW, I like this horn better than the 1047 variants. Always punched over its weight class for me.

Not sure on the price/market, I haven’t looked in a long time, but they are nice horns that play well.

Cheers,
Andy

I love mine. I'm selling my Shires I like it so much, as a matter of fact. $1350 is more than I spent on the two I now own, but it isn't a bad price relative to other similar horns.

OK. Guess I'll buy. This horn for orchestral and the Selmer Bolero for jazz.

I knew someone who had one. Sounded nice. The only thing I'd go through the intonation in detail. Make sure you can adapt to any quirks.

I played one for a couple of years, eventually traded it for an 88H. Great horn, though, and it helped me get into playing again after a lapse of several years.

Incidentally, these bells play really nice with Conn slides too. I picked up the SL4762 someone was selling a few weeks ago and it is a really nice complement to the 525/547 slide, and fits with no modification. As far as I can tell, the length is basically identical beween the two slides.
