I just joined the trombone chat forum after purchasing my first trombone 3 weeks ago. It's a 1957 Boosey & Hawkes small bore tenor which of course was made in England.

Do any of you have any Boosey & Hawkes lore to share ?

Hello, and welcome to the Chat.
I am also in the UK, in the wonderful South Western county of Somerset, the home of cider and Cheddar cheese.

Marc, you asked for any info on B&H/Besson instruments and you will see from my trombone list that I have 3 of their models which I use in appropriate settings.
Your small bore tenor from 1957 could be one of a few different models; the main ones were "Regent" (Student level), "Emperor" (Intermediate level) and "Imperial" (Professional). There were some others such as the "78" and the "Oxford" but these were student level but not as common. All these instruments were the same dimensions, 0.487in bore and 7- 7.5in bell. Many were silver plated and some were in the old High Pitch tuning This is shown as the letters H.P. next to the serial number (under the bell flare)
All these instruments were built heavy and strong ready for high intensity use in brass and military bands and schools. They are ideal marching band instruments!!!

Managed to play my first few notes on it.

I spent some time playing in a brass band in Ely, UK. The set list was odd...British March's followed by ABBA. Something about playing God Save the Queen followed by Dancing Queen...weird!

Hello all trombone enthusiasts! I just joined and am so happy to have found this forum. I'm located in Springville, Utah, USA. I play a Conn Constellation tenor. I don't find many of these out there. I love the mellow sound. Anyone else out there who owns one?

Welcome to our chat. This is probably a Conn 48H. Not as popular as the similar Conn 6H, but there are quite a few "out there." They do make a nice sound.
