Left Hand Bell Hold?

Saw this earlier when Penn St and Wisconsin bands played the National Anthem. What's with the left hand bell hold?

The contest entry form said "Void where prohibited", so I pissed on the Captain's desk.

Actually, I've now looked at several photos of this band and they hold it this way in every one!

They are from Wisconsin mind you. :-)

I have no idea why you would get people to hold it like that.

Re: Left Hand Bell Hold?

I'm afraid if someone told me to hold it that way I might not be very polite. :-)

Maybe no one has told them how to hold it properly. :-)
