Jamey Aebersold Camp: who's here?

Post by PhilipEdCarlson »

I was thinking it'd be fun to get together for lunch. Like a Virtual TC (you know, but in real life).

In the meantime, you could give us some updates about what's happening. That would be interesting.

This was probably the highlight so far.

Saturday afternoon Jamey passed me in the hall saying, "You want to go to a fish place?" He drove the four of us and talked about a number of things. Really nice to spend time with him!

JA Camp: Catfish & Religion

Apparently, I've heard mention in the halls, Jamey loves deep fried food. So do i! Loved the Hush Puppies. Glad I had the Catfish. hopefully I'll remember I had the catfish so I can try something else any time I go to a fish place again!

just now,
as I write,
in Musicianship Class,
JA had this on the overhead:

"Your daily life is your temple and your religion."

I missed the attribution since I'm splitting my attention with TC, but it goes to my opinion on religion. It was presented as a musicianship issue. I had mentioned, in another post, that everything is politics. I wanted to include religion in that comment, but didn't because it would have muddied a common trope ("everything is politics") but, to me, everything is both political AND religious. I don't know what "religion" JA is, other than I know Jazz is clearly an important part of it.
