WTB: Bass Trombone Mutes

Post by Largobone » Mon Sep 14, 2020 12:05 pm

Made some changes at school and need some new mutes! Looking for bass straight, cup, and practice mutes. Dings and dents okay, they just need to play fine. For a standard 9.5" bell, no crazy wide throat or anything.

All brands welcome, but I tend to prefer Jo-Ral and Wick, as well as Shhhmutes for the practice mute.

Hoping to keep it to about $125 or less for all three if possible! Thanks!

If you have the sshhmute for tenor trombone, you can add about 3 or 4 layers of self-grip athletic tape and it might work in your bass trombone. Depends on bell size and flare angle. I use this method on my Duo Gravis, and it still works on my 4B. My $0.02.

Unfortunately I don't have a tenor Shhhmute, I've just borrowed one in the past, but I appreciate the tip!
