Yamaha 60B

Post by brtnats »

Anybody out there ever heard of this? Sounds like an interesting piece, but I can’t seem to find much about it. Yamaha’s line goes from the 59 (1.5G) to the 60 (1G+) to the Yeo (Schilke 60 sized), and this seems to be some kind of modified 1.25G, but there isn’t much info.

Yeah, I tried one fairly early on when I was experimenting with mouthpieces for my bass. As I recall, it's basically a down-sized 60, with narrower rim, smaller cup diameter, and narrower backbore. It's described as having a "semi-shallow" cup depth, and that's what I recall. I rather liked it, but thought it was probably better for a kind of big band sound. Not anywhere near a 1.25G in my opinion.
