Finally got my King flush!

When I was growing up (did I grow up? Matter for debate) in the 70s it was King, Conn, or Bach. I lived a few miles from the King factory; my first horn was a 605 student model and I picked up my 4B from George McCracken, the designer, so it was King for me. I'm a doubler and play all kinds of music and always wanted a King for every occasion. Just got a 7B bass to replace my TR180 Holton so I have fulfilled a bucket list item of mine. Shown are a 2B from the 60s, 3B from 1957, 3B-F from the mid 70s, 4B-F from the early 70s, and now the 7B. My 606 is out on loan. I see all kinds of nice horns by other brands that have blossomed since my youth but I'm happy with my Kings.

I've noticed several 3BFs that require pulling out the tuning slide quite a distance.
Not so true with straight 3Bs.
Hmm. :idk:

My 3B is out quite a bit farther than my 3BF. :idk:

I have to pull the tuning slide out beyond what most people do on every horn I own or have ever owned. I'm just a sharp guy!

I worked at the Eastlake King/UMI/Conn-Selmer for about 10 years. You have no idea how many production mistakes are made and then let go through for the sake of production numbers. I hope it has changed in this post-strike era!

Nice work. This too is a dream of mine, however, I am just starting with a 3B+ and a 2B so far.

It took me about 50 years to complete the quest. Patience, my friend!

Funny! I decided to stick with horns I actually play. I was cool until a friend said "Hey, what about Silver Sonics?" :o

I stopped playing for 34 years. I got my 3B+ back in 1983 and my 2B (a used late ‘50s model) just this year. So I guess it took
Me 36 years to get 2....

Thanks! Me too. I've got a renewed enthusiasm for playing. Maybe at 62 I'll finally start learning to ad lib! Never too old to learn something new...

Kingfan, congrats on your King flush!

After I saw that you replaced your TR180 with a 7B, I of course had to run out and get one too!

Love this horn.

Leave it to Greenbean to get his mitts on (yet another) beautiful trombone that has been sitting in someone's closet, aging gracefully, for decades.

Congratulations! :good:
