Re: Favorite Mouthpieces?

I’m relatively new around here and I’ve heard a lot about the Doug Elliot mouthpieces and some people even talk like that know him. Is he a member here that makes mouthpieces??

Re: Any tips for transposing alto to bass clef?

One step plus one octave. Remember that the Alto Clef is a C clef, meaning the C goes through the middle. Long term, it's easier to just memorize the alto clef as its own unique thing. Congrats on grabbing an alto trombone. They're great! :good: Thank you!!! The plan was to try to memorize it but t...

Any tips for transposing alto to bass clef?

I’ve played bass clef all my life and regretably I’ve never bothered to learn any other clef but now I’m so engrossed by my new alto trombone that I want to learn everything about it. I’ve looked into it and it kinda looks like all the notes on the alto clef are just one step up like from line to sp...

Re: Favorite Mouthpieces?

Where’s the best place to buy them?? I know most people have probably been gathering for awhile but it sounds like people have sunk thousands of dollars into mouthpieces. Is there a cheap place I just haven’t heard of?

Probably whatever your tech's minimum charge is. It's a 5 minute job.

Re: Spring stop in main slide

It's possible that one of the springs is loose. Before you head to the tech, try this: Pull the outer slide in as far as it will go and squeeze it a bit. That may get the spring to "seat". I just gave it a couple of squeezes but it’s still making noises. It sounds like the slide hitting the spring....

Re: Favorite Mouthpieces?

I really wish I had the funds to try out all of you guy’s favorites. I’ve wanted a Wicks for so so long and I’m kinda interested in saving for a giddings mouthpiece. I did just get in on an auction for a lot of 18 vintage mouthpieces. I hope I find some nice ones in there. Tbh when looking at my nex...

I like my horns with the springs. Maybe the tech can de-clang it???
It’s less of a clang and more like loud spring decompression. I personally like ing the full mobility around 1st position. Could be that it has a bad spring but I’m so used to not having one.

Favorite Mouthpieces?

I honestly just love to collect mouthpieces. What are some your favorites? I'm a personal fan of the christian lindberg mouthpieces. I have the 4 CL and it is so comfortable to play on. I also have a King M21 mouthpiece that I liked to play on my olds ambassador in my high school jazz band.

Spring stop in main slide

So I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to take out a spring that it’s inside of my main slide that acts like a stop. It makes such a loud clanging noise even with the slightest touch.
