Re: What we're doing

That's some lineup. What are you using for an arrangement? When we did something similar for my parents, it was three trombones and three reed instruments. In the younger generation, the two trombone players are at conservatories, while the two reed players studied engineering. I don't know what it...

Re: What we're doing

Nothing upcoming at the moment, though, but my parents are celebrating their 70 years birthdays this weekend, so I'll join the rest of my family on "Waltz nr 2" from Suite for Variety Orchestra by Shostakovich. Hey, this is cool! What instruments does your family band have? With brother, sisters, w...

Re: What we're doing

Great idea for a thread! I'm a fairly low level amateur player, returned to playing about a year and a half ago, but has not (so far) joined any group (except for sitting in occasionally at the local children's band to assist a couple of new trombone players). But I have some "gigs", if you could ca...

Tilting your head?

Hi, When I was a kid, I tilted my head quite heavily to the left (towards the instrument on my shoulder), and I got some comments on it, but most people said I'd grow out of it (if that's the correct expression). Now, taking up the trombone again as an adult, I figured this shouldn't be an issue any...

Bach Cello suites - do you prefer tenor or bass trombone?

As the title asks: Do you prefer to play (or hear) the Cello suites on tenor trombone or bass trombone?

(BTW, is it not possible to create polls on this forum? Didn't see any option for that)

Re: PM system

So, to avoid having bots spamming the forum, we have rules that force humans to spam the forum to get enough posts instead :P

Maybe it would be useful to have a separate subforum for this?

Anyway, this is my second post, I think. So now I can PM as well. :good:

Re: Warming down

Is there a physiological reason why this might work? I usually do just a couple of pedals as a warm down. I may be completely wrong about this, but my take is that the slow vibration of the pedals are somehow beneficial for the blood stream, thus speeding up the rebuilding of muscles torn down duri...

Re: Beginner Question

2. The trombone resonates with integral wave lengths filling the tube. One tube length is "pedal Bb", located 2 ledger lines and the space below the bass staff. It is not commonly used. The first harmonic is 2 wave lengths filling the tube and is the low Bb on the 2nd line of the staff. 3 wave leng...
