Re: Found money - sort of.

I think I'd call the church treasurer, detail exactly what happened, apologize for any inconvenience caused, and explain that the call was to report the serial number of the (now invalid ?) check, on the outside chance that it was still on their books. If the church offers to issue a new check, you ...

Alas, maybe a little too much information...............
I think I'll try to focus on remembering just the solos.

It's OK if the glass is only half full.

After a very long life as an amateur trombonist, I know that I'll never come close to having the high range of Kiril Ribarski; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohHrZf3JMug Or the technique of Bob McChesney: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56AKl4uHKjA But I can make music like Dusty Dickerson: http://...

Re: Today's posts

Thanks for your time, Matt.
As a non-ITT guy, I wasn't sure if this was a big request or a quickie.
Sometimes there's a big gap between possible and reasonable.
I'll just continue to appreciate the many improvements you've made to this site already.

Re: Today's posts

Hi, Matt. Thanks for joining in. Rather than me stumbling through what may be incorrect jargon, I'll cite an example. In addition to trombones, I'm also into old tractors and I frequent the site with the below listed link. If you click on "Forums" on the home page, you can see a very large listing o...

Re: Today's posts

Thanks, Neo Bri. I had found that option, and that is a good idea. Unfortunately, it doesn't do what I'd like to see, because the post disappears back into the forum maze after the first reply. When my day is over and I sit down after dinner to check the daily posts, I'd like to see all the posts of...

Today's posts

Another chat that I belong to also has multiple forums, similar to this one. Additionally, it has a category called "Today's Posts" which lists all "Subjects" without regard to forum location. (Actually, they list two days' worth.) . The listed posts are identified by "Subject," and selecting that s...

Megan.....(if you're still here?) You've had a real good ten year run at a musical career, with good memories and not so good memories, all of which will blend into the fabric of your past as the the anger and frustration that you are feeling fades. One day you'll be telling your circus stories to w...

Listed two posts above yours on the forum page, there is a discussion about trombone careers.
Good thing to think about.

Doug Yeo is a highly respected professional trombonist who frequently posted at the old "Trombone Forum" and elsewhere. Here's what he has to offer on the subject: http://www.yeodoug.com/resources/symphony_auditions/aud03.html If your son's music is the passion of his life, then he absolutely must p...

Re: Anybody play Trombonium or Baritone horn?

What Bruce said. ^^
I play my valve front baritone at about the the same angle. For me, that puts the bottom of the horn at my right hip bone, and my right elbow holds the horn against my body to steady it and to help the left hand support the horn's weight. Same horn position, standing or sitting.

Re: Brand new horn, out of tune. Easy fix?

One more vote here for focusing on the mouthpiece..........
Some horns just prefer a certain mouthpiece in order for the partials to line up properly.
No magic formula. The individual player's embouchure is a big variable.
Just gottta try everything to find what works.
