Re: Screwbell Pricing

I don't know if it's cool to drop names so I won't, but a very popular NYC tech quoted me at $400. I would have gone for it except you can't really reap the benefits without buying a new case. Some food for thought: the new Weston Sprott mode Courtois does not have that many changes but I think it p...

FS: Alessi Pieces

I have a few pieces I am not using right now, and would be open to trades in the 105 range with a deeper cup (a la Griego Alessi 3F) or something in the 1 1/2 size for bass. Please email me for prices/trades/questions etc: MichaelVentoso@gmail.com Greg Black NY 1- My favorite choice out of the sever...

Re: FS: slides, Bell, valves

Hi Tom! Is this a tenor or bass valve section?

Re: Protec Ipac on a plane

I took my Ipac (tenor) to Cuba and it fit in the overhead bins. If you check it I would put a styrofoam cone in the bell.

Re: Bluetooth Speaker Advice

I tried to post something similar before but it didn't go through; maybe it will this time. A few of my friends/colleagues use the UE boom 2 and my professor recommended it to me. It is waterproof and can take drops while being small enough to fit in my case. It's also loud enough to hear a backing ...

FS: Jinbao Alto

I'm putting out feelers; would anyone be interested in a Chinese alto. Perfect for learning the Eb horn or if you want to perform on one in non-paying situations. It's nickel plated and has one small ding on the main tuning slide. I did a lot of work to the hand slide to make it work, but I never go...

Re: Good, Change of Pace Rehearsal

Considering how famous their composition teacher is (if we are on the same page) I seriously doubt it is a lack of skill or knowledge. Perhaps they simply did not have the bass bone/tuba colors in their heads while writing the music.

Re: Fusion Gig Bags

I have the (last gen) fusion for large tenors but I use it for small tenors and my bass bone too. You can easily fit all the music you need, 3 mouthpieces, a trombone stand, a music stand, a couple water bottles, oils and such if you don't zip the second compartment. I have never had any damage and ...

Even though I missed Mr. Langfur by a year I would highly recommend applying! It won't be a summer you forget.

I'm happy with my current lp but I would bet the MO stands for Minick Open (Kanstul).

Re: Practice mutes

I haven't tried the Yamaha.
That aside, most mutes that fit in the bell mess with pitch unevenly. In the top register they go flat and in the low range they go sharp. The Shhmute makes the whole horn sharp top to bottom quite evenly.
Plus in the new Shires cases you can fit it in the bell.

I appreciate the kind words Bri(an?). I think I can name more than one toe I would give up for that Thein, and I seriously doubt I am alone in that regard.

Re: Courtois 440BR

The 420's are pretty common but I haven't yet seen a 440 in the wild. I would bet it's probably due to (most of) the Met Opera section playing on them.

Re: Bass Trombones- Single vs Dependent vs Independent

Being mostly a tenor player, I would definitely opt for a double of some flavor. You don't want to be stuck needing it when you don't have it and it is expected you have one on most modern music. It also significantly lessens what would otherwise be very long slide movements down in the valve regist...

I have a N104 and N105, both in sliver. Would possibly trade for a bass piece in the 1.5 range.
