Re: Yamaha YSL 646

There were also Artist models in the 600 series. The 682B is for Ian Bousfield. It's a 682 with a heavier bell and larger valve. Note that my 682 had a one-piece bell. What Yamaha often does is to "downrate" models from Pro to Intermediate when they are replaced by newer models. The 645-648 series ...

Re: Conn 62H bass trombone bell compatibility

Right. But most Conn basses (the ones I have owned) had long slides. I owned a 62H and swapped slides with my 71H and 72H. Definitely a no-go. But perhaps I am over-generalizing sinc e not all Conn slides are long (and bell sections short).

The small cup MV 's don't go for much unless they are in great shape. Somewhere between $25 and $100, depending on condition, I would guess. They made LOTS of smaller mouthpieces, so they are abundant. Larger cups - 6.5, 5, 4, 3,... are much less common and will bring more. And the 1.5G's, of course...

How about a year of lessons with a top symphony player? You are near Cleveland or Columbus, I think. Should be able to find someone great. Treat it like a conservatory program. Play for 5 or 6 hours a day, high expectations, regular floggings, recitals, etc. You will hate paying $80 a week for a les...
